Makes you wish you were dead, right? Wrong. Just because you're a teenager and single, it doesn't mean it's the end of the world. In fact, it's just the beginning.

There's so much you can do, feel and experience. And not just because you have to kill time or try to 'fit in' but because you want to. You know there's a big difference between being lonely and alone. Being alone doesn't necessarily mean you're lonely, but the reverse is true in so many cases.
Think of this solo time as precious. Your years of freedom where you can do what your heart desires and not have to bother about what pleases him or her, not give a damn about how you look but just care about how you feel. In the first place just because you are single it shouldn't mean that you have to hang around only with other lonely souls. Remember misery not only loves company, misery loves miserable company.

So don't go that way at all. If your friends really care about you they wouldn't mind you hanging out with them even when they're with their respective better halves. So as long as you're comfortable with yourself go ahead and hang out with those lovey-dovey couples at parties, movies and pizza parlours. Watch them squirm with embarrassment instead of you. Besides they'll always be happy to have someone to laugh and crack jokes with. And when they have those little lovers' tiffs you can proudly play judge!

Now is also a good time to do all those things that you've been planning to do for ages. It's summer time and there are endless ways to keep you occupied. Learn jazz dancing or Tae Kwondo. Pick up a book on cocktails or mocktails and come up with the most colourful thirst quenchers ever. And for heaven's sake if you've been contemplating whether or not to take that bungee jump, now is the time. Feel that rush of adrenaline. There's nothing like it. Didn't you ever wish that you could play a musical instrument and learn at least one foreign language?

So, what's stopping you now? When was the last time you took a walk or read a book? Painted a landscape or wrote a poem, or even cooked. Never mind if you've been declared a disaster in the kitchen before. Step in there one more time, you just might surprise yourself. This can also be a good time to spend with your family

. Never mind if your younger brother has always been a pest. You can always complete the model spaceship that you guys have been planning since you were kids. Life in singledom can be a picnic. Quite literally too. And if you're not too comfortable going out at all, there's always the Internet.

That miraculous phenomenon of our times. There's so much to do - look at interesting websites, download MP3s, play virtual games, shop, mail and chat. Hey, you never know when those love bytes might attack and you end up meeting the person of your dreams in a chat room! Until then chill out and have fun. Being single is not bad at all. I mean look at the bright side. You are your own boss.

You don't have to put up with temper tantrums, fights and misunderstandings. Besides, you're better off on your own instead of being in a meaningless, superficial relationship that has no soul. That would just be an exercise in futility. So bide your time and wait

. Love will happen when it has to. It won't be long before you meet that special someone and discover a whole new world. Till then, it's time to discover yourself.
