Funny, yet practical the advice your best friend should give  |
This is a great book and I cant believe the previous reviewers didnt say how funny it was. Jo Hemmings writes as if she is one of your best friends, telling you stuff you know you dont really want to be told, but realising the truth of it. It is done with so much humour and knowledge that you cant possibly take it the wrong way.I wish my friends all had a background in psychology and had carried out research into dating. If so I probably wouldnt need this book. But as they havent the book is a fantastic replacement. Perfect if youre single or back on the singles route, or indeed a practical gift if you know someone in the same position.

I enjoyed this book - very readable and amusing, it brings the dating game up to speed with new ways of communicating - and the pitfalls associated with them! But this is not just about exploiting technology - its about how to take to control of who you want to be with, and how you want to live, recognising when there needs to be compromise..and when there doesnt! Good ideas on safety and security too - a well balanced approach to the dating minefield.

The Dating Game is a fun and accessible guide to dating, mainly aimed at the modern woman, although I suspect that a few modern men will gain a lot from it too. It offers straight-forward practical tips and insights on dating today, without ever resorting to formula. Although the author has a psychological background, the theory nicely underpins the book, without dominating or getting in the way. So although the reader is unlikely to gain any profound psychological insights, who wants a psychology lesson when they just wanna have fun? The Dating Game includes sections on internet dating and speed dating, and offers tried and tested tips to get the most out of these relatively new phenomena. The sections on body language and confidence building are particularly welcome, being easy to grasp and put into practice. Overall, a great introduction to modern dating.
